The short version: Everalonia does not require user accounts, take payments, host the games or collect gameplay data. We minimise collection and do not sell personal information.
1. Who we are
Everalonia is an independent game-review and discovery website operating at everalonia.com for people in New Zealand. For privacy questions or requests, email our privacy contact at privacy@everalonia.com.
2. Scope and governing framework
This policy applies to personal information handled through everalonia.com. We aim to follow New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles, including collecting only information necessary for a lawful purpose, protecting it with reasonable safeguards, and supporting access and correction rights. 3. Information we may collect
Information you choose to send
If you email us with a question, correction or complaint, we receive your email address, name if supplied, message content and any attachments you include. Please do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary.
Basic technical records
Our web host may generate security and access logs containing an IP address, requested page, date and time, browser or device type, referring page and error information. These records help deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it from abuse. They are not used to build gaming profiles.
Browser storage
The site stores a single preference named everalonia-cookie-choice in your browser’s local storage so the cookie notice does not appear on every visit. See our Cookie Policy.
4. What we do not collect
- We do not create Everalonia user accounts.
- We do not process card or payment information.
- We do not collect gameplay, chat, in-game identity or progress from the listed games.
- We do not knowingly use advertising trackers or sell personal information.
5. Why we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to deliver and secure the site, answer messages, correct editorial content, investigate misuse, understand technical faults, comply with law and establish or defend legal rights. We do not use an editorial-correction email to send marketing unless you separately ask us to.
6. Sharing and service providers
Information may be processed by suppliers that provide hosting, security, email or technical support on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to a lawful authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect people, the site or our legal rights. We do not sell or rent personal information.
7. External game websites
Everalonia links to official game websites but does not control them. When you follow a play link, that operator may collect account, device, advertising, gameplay or purchase information under its own privacy policy. Review its notices before playing or creating an account. A link does not transmit your email correspondence to the game operator.
8. Overseas processing
Hosting, email or security providers may process data outside New Zealand. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we will take steps appropriate to the circumstances and the Privacy Act 2020, such as using reputable providers and contractual safeguards.
9. Retention and security
We retain correspondence only for as long as needed to answer it, keep an appropriate editorial or legal record, or meet legal obligations. Technical logs are kept for a limited operational and security period determined by the hosting configuration. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
You may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, or ask for a correction. Email privacy@everalonia.com and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
11. Children and young people
Everalonia is an editorial site for a general audience and does not ask children to register. If you are under 16, involve a parent or guardian before emailing personal information or following a link to a game with public chat, accounts or optional purchases.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when the site, suppliers or law change. We will post the revised date here and provide a prominent notice if a change materially affects how personal information is used.
